Abstract

The Kama Sutra known as the Art or Book of Love, is a guide towards deeper intimacy within, with other people and the universe. Ancient Indian sages composed the Kama Shastra on the basis of the Vedas. “Kama” which is one of the four goals of Hindu life, means desire including sexual desire. And “Sutra” literally means a thread or line that holds things together and more metaphorically refers to an aphorism (or line, rule, formula), or a collection of such aphorisms in the form of a manual. Five chapters on contents of the book, explain three aims and priorities of life. Ten chapters are on stimulation of desire.
