Abstract

Objective: In the post war scenario of Sri Lanka, a proper mechanism for sustainable Nation building is of utmost importance to ensure the security of all people belong various ethnicities. Scope: This paper focuses on the principle of inter generational equity and its sustainability with special reference to the Sri Lankan community. This paper attempts to discuss the following main issues: How development can be achieved in a sustainable manner How development helps to ensure National Security Its Human Rights Aspect. Methodology: The research is mainly based on literature review in the areas of Human Rights Laws of Sri Lanka; particularly the research is based on statutes, academic expressions and judicial decisions. Further, this study engages with International Human Rights Principles as a whole. Conclusion: The present study concludes that the present nation building process is not sustainable and it doesn't cater to present day demands of achieving the Equality Principle among all people in the country irrespective of gender, colour, caste, etc. Therefore, the study suggests that the International Human Rights Law Principles should be incorporated to the Human Rights Laws of Sri Lanka in order to achieve the above stated objectives.
