dc.description.abstractAcute peritoneal dialysis (PO) is the most popular from of dialysis in Sri Lanka. Patients followed up in this series between 30th of October 1995 and 10th of December 1995 developed many complications. 44.4% developed catheter obstruction, 40% peritonitis, 26.6% had bleeding while 17.8% developed leaks and 4.2% had other complications. 'Coliforms' were the most common organisms involved in peritonitis followed by Staphylococcus aureus. This study also highlights the antibiotic sensitivity patterns of these organisms and the of management of peritonitis in the National Hospital of Sri Lanka.
