Thyroid Disorders

Abstract

Thyroid hormones (TH) play a vital role in the normal growth and metabolism. Thyroid disorders can have a significant impact on wellbeing and quality of life (QoL) of individuals and on the healthcare system of the country. Therefore, evidence based, up to date guidelines on investigation and management of these disorders, adapted to the local setting are a timely requirement. Thyroid disorders can present with hypofunction or hyperfunction of the gland, as well as benign or malignant thyroid nodules. Focus of this clinical practice guideline is on hypothyroidism and thyrotoxicosis.
