dc.description.abstract This is a cost study done at Colombo north teaching hospital Ragama and at Durdans Privet Hospital at Colombo3. unit cost of Diagnostic radiological investigations done in these institutions was calculated by analyzing the number of investigations done ,and the capital and recurrent costs incurred for services delivery. Total number of normal plain X-ray done per day at CNTH was 290 when compared with 169 at Durdans Hospital.CNTH however spends lot of money on equipment, personal and maintenance when compared with the private sector. Further more the number of CT scanning done is low in both institutions ranging from 5-6 CT scanning per day. This situation is not cost efficient and perhaps this calls for alternative mythologies to make Diagnostic Radio local services both productive and cost efficient
