Abstract:
Patients visiting the OPD with minor ailments were interviewed by a personally filled
questionnaire. Patients were allowed to answer and they were guided when necessary. Most
of the patient had chosen LRT as a form of contraception due to socioeconomic reasons.
Majority of patients in this group belonged to the lower middle. class. Post surgical regret
was definitely seen in 14 percent .Whilst there was an ambiguous group of 21 percent
comprising of those who were hesitant in giving a definite reply. They too could be
assumed to fall into the regretful group Even though LRT is practiced widely as a for of
family planning, the permanent nature of the procedure as well as the Possible side effects
should 1ge explained and informed consent obtained before going ahead with the
procedure
