Retrograde ejaculation causes less than 2% of male
infertility but is a leading cause of male infertility. We
report a case of aspetmia due to rettogtade ejaculation
and successful recovery of sperms from post ejaculatory
urine sample and inttautetine insemination.
A young couple matried for 18 months presented with
primary sub fertility. Male partner had undergone several
operations during childhood including a colostomy
tepair for high imperforated anus. He still has not gained
complete control of his anal sphincter. He does not have
erectile dysfunction but he did not have an ejaculate.
Examination of a post ejaculatory urine sample
confirmed retrograde ejaculation. A total of 49 million sperms (b-40%) were recovered from the post ejaculatory
urine sample collected in to a culture medium, and after
processing sample contained 8.4 Million/insemi.
(0.3ml).
Pregnancy achieved after ovulation induction and
intrauterine insemination and currently she is in her 34
week of her pregnancy.
Conclusion:
A l l patients who have aspermia should have a post
ejaculatory urine sample examined to exclude retrograde
ejaculation. Recovery of sperms from post ejaculatory
urine sample gives promising results. |
