dc.description.abstract The southwest coastal area of Sri Lanka covers a diversified tract of coastal environment. It exhibits a high degree of geomorphologic complexity. In order to study this classification of landforms in the area was made using aerospace survey techniques. The available black and white (panchromatic) aerial photographs of the scale 1: 20, 000 were interpreted. The Geomorphological units were interpreted first on the basis of landsat images in the laboratory and then the details were identified and analysed, using aerial photographs
