dc.description.abstract Six patients in advanced chronic renal failure referred from the University Medical Unit, general Hospital Colombo to the Nephrology centre at Christian Medical College, Vellore, India received a live related kidney transplantation. Five of these patients had an initial acute peritoneal dialysis prior to transfer to Vellore in our unit. The preliminary assessment and investigation for the kidney donors were done in our unit. We report the follow up of the six patients (4 males and 2 female) Ages 19-58 years who have now been followed upto 8 years. Four patients have died during this period 3 of chronic graft rejection and 1 from Acute Myocardial Infarction although the graft was function well. Two patients are well and fully rehabilitated and one of them is now in his 8th year past transplantation in active government service.
