dc.description.abstract Sri Lankan patients in endstage chronIc renal failure who have been found suitable for transplant surgery have been admitted, to a haemodialysis programme with a view to, transplantation in Sri Lanka or abroad. This paper deals with 15 such patients in the programme. There were 12 males and 3 females in the project with a mean age of 31 years ranging from 16 years to 60 years. Of this group 31 patients have received transplants in India, 3 In London and 1 in Sri Lanka. Two of the patients died while awaiting transplantation. In all these Instances the donor work-up was undertaken in Sri Lanka, the patient and the selected donpr being flown out for surgery. The other 6 patients are being dialysed at present with a view to transplantation following donor work-up.
