Abstract: The need for an overall plan for controlling the occurrence of ARI in MOH area, Kadugannawe is stressed. This plan should include improving environmental conditions to reduce overcrowding, education of mothers in early detection, home care procedures and seeking medical help at the correct time, regular monitoring and assessment of the disease occurrence by medical officer of health, and maintaining and improving the standard of treatment in the hospital. There is a need to educated the mother and public health midwives to identify mild, moderate and severe forms of ARI. Utilization of medical services seems to be adequate, this being facilitated by the good communication system in the area and availability of the health care services. There seems to be an over utilization of these services, during early stages of infection which could be avoided by better education of the mothers. Knowledge on management of ear infections in children among the mothers has to improved. There is a need to increase mothers knowledge regarding the feeding of the child during an attack of respiratory infection.
