The ages of all the participants in this study) varied between 22 to 87 years. Their mean age was 56 years. From the sample of cervical cancer patients interviewed 53.3 percent resided in the Western Province ( Colombo , Gampaha and Kalutara districts and 5 .4 percent lived in rural areas.
