Mung bean seeds of cultivar II 101 were subjected to gamma irradiation of dosages varying from 20 Kr to 100 Kr. Half the total number of test plants and the corresponding controls .were mechanically inoculated with leaf mosaic virus and grown under controlled conditions in a Green-House. The remaining half of the test plants and the corresponding controls were kept in the open exposed to natural infection sources. Variants obtained by using 70 Kr irradiation (Dry seeds) did not show any symptoms of leaf-mosaic disease hut 15.7/-- of them had reduced growth in comparison to the controls.
